The Plaister Charity is a unique UK charity devoted exclusively to the care, preservation, and promotion of Crabbet Arabian horses.
Founded to safeguard these historically important bloodlines, the charity combines hands-on welfare, responsible breeding, and education to ensure Crabbet Arabians continue to thrive for generations to come. We believe these horses represent an irreplaceable part of equestrian heritage, tracing their roots back to the world-renowned Crabbet Stud established in 1878.
At the heart of the charity is the welfare of our horses. We provide lifelong care for those in need, rehome where appropriate, and create environments that allow horses to live as naturally as possible. Alongside this, we actively support responsible breeding programmes aimed at preserving pure Crabbet and Old English bloodlines while maintaining quality, temperament, and soundness.
Education and heritage are central to our mission. Through newsletters, social media, and future plans for a dedicated Heritage Centre, we aim to share knowledge, preserve important artefacts, and raise awareness of the Crabbet Arabian’s significance worldwide.
Guided by our trustees, stud team, and dedicated volunteers, The Plaister Charity continues to build on the legacy of Geoffrey Plaister — always putting the horses first and working transparently for the benefit of the breed, the equestrian community, and the wider public.
