The Grange is on an exciting journey. Since The Plaister Charity took over in late 2025, we have been transforming the centre into something truly special for the equestrian community of Devon and the South West, and we need your help to continue with the many tasks in hand.
Volunteering at The Grange is unlike most other equestrian venues. Because we are a charity, every hour you give goes directly towards something meaningful, whether that is the welfare of our Crabbet Arabian horses, the running of a competition, or simply making The Grange a better place for everyone who visits.
There is genuinely something for everyone. For those who love being around horses, we always need help with yard work, mucking out, grooming, and the daily care of our horses. Many of our volunteers tell us it is the best therapy they know, and we tend to agree.
On event days, we rely on fire marshals, competition stewards, warmup arena helpers, dressage writers, pole pickers and general event support to keep everything running smoothly and safely. Without our volunteers, it would be very hard.
Away from events, there is always something to be done. Decorating, maintenance, painting, and gardening all help us continue the transformation of the site, and there is great satisfaction in seeing the results of your efforts every time you visit. And our visitors notice very little thing we do as we transform the centre back to its glory days.
Whether you can spare an hour or two occasionally, or are looking for something more regular, you will be made genuinely welcome. We are a friendly, passionate team united by a love of horses and a belief in what The Grange can become.
